Bruchko by Bruce Olson is one of our favorite missionary stories. It is an autobiography about how a lost midwestern 19 year old boy got on a plane with $70 in his pocket, a good head for languages, and ended up finding Home in the jungles of South America. The story begins in the late 50s and is not over yet as Bruce still lives in his jungle home even though he is now in his 80s!
For years the idea of a graphic novel of this story has lived in my head, and last year I (Anne) decided to pursue it. I contacted Bruce, and he directed me to his publisher with whom I made an agreement with, so that I can create this graphic novel and pay them royalties. I am estimating it will take at least two years to create the book of 250- 300 pages and then I hope to distribute it.
Below is some of my work in progress.
This work is from Chapter 2 where the graphic novel will begin. Bruce is 14 years old in St. Paul, Minnesota and feeling lost.
Are you intrigued?
I would love to talk more about this project as I am looking for encouragement and some support.
