#drawntothelight

Updated: Sep 16, 2019

This is our second year of launching a 30 day drawing challenge for the month of August. (Yes, there are 31 days in August, take one as a buffer, where needed.)

We are staying with the theme of "drawn to the light" because:

  1. Open ended themes give room for interpretation which makes this... fun?

  2. moths, fireflies, summer nights, what's not to love?

  3. the incarnation of the Light of the World in doodling gives a dose of sanity

We hope you will join us and share your artwork on instagram or your social media of choice with these hashstags:

We want to share the joy of drawing something everyday and seeing how that can bless you.

The Madeleine L'Engle quote I was looking for, when I found these quotes, was about doing what we can and not worrying about success. How many times as creative beings do we rob ourselves from creating because of our fears?

Maybe you have to know the darkness

before you can appreciate the light.

-M. L'Engle

We encourage you to grab some copy paper, a stack of index cards, post-its, or that blank sketch book and just draw something.

This is about fun, enjoying drawing and painting, and pushing through all the excuses not to do it.

Even if you only have 5 minutes a day, you can draw something.

My prayer for this is that we get gripped by wonder and awe of who this God is, as we see His incarnation in the beauty of fireflies, moths, the moon, and glow in the dark sea creatures. We can't wait to see what comes out of this challenge.

Like it or not, we either add

to the darkness of indifference

and out-and-out evil which surrounds us

or we light a candle to see by.

-M. L'Engle
