The award-winning TRAILBLAZERS by Dave & Neta Jackson are action-packed historical fiction novels introducing great Christian heroes. Each page-turning book portrays a significant period in a hero or heroine’s life and ministry as seen through the eyes of a young protagonist. A page in the front of each book explains exactly what is fiction and which events and characters are historical, and a “More About” chapter at the end provides a brief biographical overview of the hero’s life. They help kids learn about pioneer missionaries and other important Christians . . . while having fun doing it.

JUDGES

Our judging process is one that is blind so that we cannot be influenced by grade, gender or personal knowledge of student contributor. Our fabulous judging panel generously donates their time and expertise to this contest, we are thankful for them.

Meet them below:

Marina Manns:

Marina has her BFA in Ceramics and also enjoys set design, drawing, painting, and music. Marina moonlights as a professional prankster, drummer, and singer, but her full-time gig is a homeschooling mom of the cutest little army of 5 Manns boys. Thus, her medium is currently cardboard, chalk and play dough, with a focus on costume design.

Thomas Manns:

Tom has his BFA in painting. He enjoys movies, video games, Star Wars and a very clean plate. His creative ability manifests itself through carpentry, songwriting and filmmaking. Most days you can find Tom enjoying his boys by creating amazingly complex Minecraft or Lego structures and spending time with his wife crafting giant cardboard replicas of things to leave on a friend's porches.

Kenny Klein:

Kenny is our newest judge, a gifted artist, a master of pop culture

reference and a Master Plumber who has perfected the art of beautiful installation.

He is a husband and father of three, living in the city of brotherly love. Kenny is a man who exemplifies wonder and awe. As a master of superlatives, he daily pursues finding the best in life, whether it's the best saws-all blade, sandwich, soft pretzel, movie, meme, premier league team or Saison, Kenny simply loves life and his joy is infectious. In his spare time, you might find Kenny drawing ninjas for his son, joking with his daughters or playing guitar with his band.

A. E. Macha:

Anne is an educator + illustrator.

She graduated from Arcadia University in 2003 with a BFA in Illustration and Cert. in Art. ED. Anne lives in Philadelphia, PA. with her husband Josh, where she is currently homeschooling her two kids after eight years teaching in the classroom. When not teaching, drawing, or cooking, Anne is usually thrifting, sewing, or most likely praying for patience and a guarded tongue, while standing at her front door, waiting for her kids to put on socks and shoes. She is a fan of 90's hip-hop, dresses with pockets, and Chicago style popcorn.

Published work:

Illustration for Mission Accomplished New Growth Press ( February 2015)

Illustration for The Gospel Story Bible New Growth Press (November 2011)

Sara Klein:

Sara is a wife and homeschooling mother of three. Sara received her BFA degree from Tyler School of Art, Temple University where she studied Jewelry, Metals, and CAD-CAM. Her professional life included stints as a CAD-CAM modeler, designer, and prototype creator. However, none of these things could adequately prepare her for the challenge of motherhood…or homeschooling! Sara currently runs a Classical Homeschooling community, tutors SAT students, teaches Sunday school, sings on her worship team and tries to find time to garden. She loves to read, thrift shop and her primary artistic pursuit is the art of finding the beauty of the everyday.
